ImageMaster™ Document Scanner Support

ImageMaster can control document scanners using either of two popular protocols:

• TWAIN - which supports black and white scanning and a basic feature set.

• KOFAX - which supports both color and black and white scanning and an expanded feature set.

Some scanners support both types of protocols. When that happens, the KOFAX protocol is preferred and should be chosen.

Important Facts to Remember...

• The protocol (sometimes referred to as the driver) is separate and distinct from the scanner interface to the computer. ImageMaster will work with a scanner, copier, multi-function device (MFD), or digital sender that utilizes a supported protocol regardless of how it is physically attached to the computer or the network.

• Scanners that attach directly to a computer workstation are preferred over network attached devices such as digital copiers. Why? Because ImageMaster can directly control the scanner and can prompt the operator for needed information in a uniform and consistent fashion independent of the device manufacturer. Paper feed problems such as double-feeds and miss-picks can be discovered and addressed immediately while the operator has the physical document in-hand.

Understanding the Approved Scanner Lists...

The Approved Scanner lists are comprised of scanners that have been tested in-house by Fillimerica Incorporated for correct operation with ImageMaster and scanners that have been proven in the field to work correctly in a wide variety of environments.

• Current Models are currently being manufactured and sold through standard retail channels.

• Discontinued Models are no longer being manufactured or sold through standard retail channels. These devices have previously been found to work with ImageMaster and may still be available for purchase from certain outlets.

A Note on Kofax protocol devices...

Most of the scanners listed here will work with an appropriate Kofax interface card or software license. In addition, there are many additional models certified by Kofax which do not appear on either list that will work correctly with ImageMaster. Kofax maintains their own list of certified and compatible scanners.
